Lung Cancer Detection on CT Scan Images: A Review on the Analysis Techniques
نویسندگان
چکیده
Lung nodules are potential manifestations of lung cancer, and their early detection facilitates early treatment and improves patient’s chances for survival. For this reason, CAD systems for lung cancer have been proposed in several studies. All these works involved mainly three steps to detect the pulmonary nodule: preprocessing, segmentation of the lung and classification of the nodule candidates. This paper overviews the current state-of-the-art regarding all the approaches and techniques that have been investigated in the literature. It also provides a comparison of the performance of the existing

متن کاملDetection of lung cancer using CT images based on novel PSO clustering
Lung cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases that cause a large number of deaths. Early detection and analysis can be very helpful for successful treatment. Image segmentation plays a key role in the early detection and diagnosis of lung cancer. K-means algorithm and classic PSO clustering are the most common methods for segmentation that have poor outputs. In t...
متن کاملAutomated classification of pulmonary nodules through a retrospective analysis of conventional CT and two-phase PET images in patients undergoing biopsy
Objective(s): Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) examination is commonly used for the evaluation of pulmonary nodules since it provides both anatomical and functional information. However, given the dependence of this evaluation on physician’s subjective judgment, the results could be variable. The purpose of this study was to develop an automated scheme for the classific...
متن کاملA New Computer-Aided Detection System for Pulmonary Nodule in CT Scan Images of Cancerous Patients
Introduction: In the lung cancers, a computer-aided detection system that is capable of detecting very small glands in high volume of CT images is very useful. This study provided a novelsystem for detection of pulmonary nodules in CT image. Methods: In a case-control study, CT scans of the chest of 20 patients referred to Yazd Social Security Hospital were examined. In the two-dimensional and ...
متن کاملTriage of Limited Versus Extensive Disease on 18F-FDG PET/CT Scan in Small Cell lung Cancer
Objective(s): Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive neuroendocrine carcinoma, which accounts for 10-15% of pulmonary cancers and exhibits early metastatic spread. This study aimed to determine the added value of 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging in tumor, node, and metastasis (TNM) staging of SCLC, compared to the conventional computed tomography (CT) scan and its potential role as a prognosticat...
